The precise timing of the opening of Susan’s Place is not known, but it is expected to occur in late Spring 2007.

The following staff will be employed by Tolentine-Zeiser Community Life Center and posted at Susan’s Place through a contractual arrangement with Care for the Homeless.

RECEPTIONIST/CLERK (reporting to the Director of Social Services) shall be responsible for maintaining social service administrative area, maintaining accurate schedules and records and making appointments for case managers when requested by clients, providing office coverage and statistics for DHS monthly reports, general clerical duties and cooperating with IT Coordinator in data collection.

Qualifications: A.A. or equivalent experience with office and social service environment; good personal skills, bi-lingual ability helpful.

BUILDING SUPERINTENDENT (reporting to the Director of Operations) shall be responsible for managing facility maintenance, maintaining all facility equipment to provide a safe, environment and for supervising all housekeeping and janitorial services throughout the facility, maintaining facility's inventory system of building furnishings, supplies, equipment and materials.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and experience in building management and staff supervision, computer literacy desirable. Appropriate certifications in mechanical systems and fire safety. Candidate must be acceptable to Department of Homeless Services to be hired.

DRIVERS (reporting to the Director of Operations) shall be responsible for transporting clients, as authorized by Social Services staff, to see housing, facilities, programs, or to appointments as needed transporting clients on authorized special trips by Social Services for recreation or education, providing approved transport for staff members when required, maintaining a driver=s log of trips, mileage, gas purchases, and maintaining the facility van including inspection, maintenance, repairs, etc..

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, valid NYS driver's license and no record of convictions within the last two years.

KITCHEN MANAGER (reporting to the Director of Operations) shall be responsible for managing menu-planning, ordering, and serving of meals in the facility and serving of lunch and dinner five days a week, maintaining good communication with food vendor representative, inventory of foodstuffs, supplies, and kitchen equipment, supervising staff aides and client workers, preparing special needs meals for diabetic clients and other special meals that are medically indicated.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, Food Handler Certificate (at a minimum), training and experience with food preparation and service in a publicly funded environment, good people skills.

KITCHEN ASSISTANT (reporting to the Kitchen Manager) shall be responsible for preparing for and serving breakfast in the facility, breakfast kitchen clean-up and cooperating with Kitchen Manager in maintaining proper conditions in kitchen and servery areas.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Food Handlers Certificate and demonstrated maturity and good judgment as attested in references from school or prior jobs.

SHIFT SUPERVISORS (reporting to the Director of Evening/Program Services) shall be responsible for providing overall supervision during evening, overnight and weekend periods, maintaining a log of activity in facility, supervising the roster of DHS clients and enforcing the approved curfew so as to maintain the residence at contracted 95% of capacity, maintaining orderly and hospitable environment, facilitating recreational and other scheduled activities, and coordinating staff communication on the shift and between shifts both in transitional residence and drop-in center.

Qualifications: Mature adult with some college education, who is good with crises and sensitive to homeless women's needs. Preferable experienced with evening, night and weekend supervision of residential facilities.

SAFETY MONITORS (reporting to Director of Operation) shall be responsible for monitoring and assuring safety of residents, staff, visitors, property and facility in accordance with DHS and agency policies and procedures and NYS law, checking the identity of all residents, screening of all vendors, visitors, and staff entering and leaving facility, maintaining full and accurate security logs, reporting any security infractions, and filing requisite incident reports.

Qualifications: High school diploma and NYS certification as security guard; good character attested to by job or school references.

PROGRAM AIDES (reporting to the Director of Operations/Shift Supervisors) shall be responsible for assisting in the direct care of clients including, when necessary, their personal hygiene, showering, laundry, and maintaining hospitable atmosphere in transitional residence and drop-in center, receiving new clients and orienting them to daily living, monitoring daily activity in the dormitories, living rooms and group rooms as well as dining room, light maintenance.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Demonstrated maturity and good judgment as attested in references from school or prior jobs.

SENIOR PORTER/HANDYMAN (reporting to the Building Superintendent) shall be responsible for maintenance and good physical condition of the Drop-in Center, scheduling or performing all small repairs in the facility, maintaining a clean, sanitary environment, operating and maintaining all mechanical equipment within the facility properly.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED with experience in operating maintenance machinery, carpentry and light plumbing & electrical skills.

PORTERS
(reporting to the Building Superintendent) shall be responsible for completing scheduled housekeeping and janitorial duties for maintaining a clean, sanitary environment in the facility, providing client sanitary facilities with all needed supplies, assisting clients in the physical moving in and out of the facility, operating and maintaining all maintenance equipment within the facility in a safe and responsible manner and vouching for all facility tools when used.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and good character references from school or previous job.
