Kerry’s Cause Walk-A-Thon
to benefit
Tolentine-Zeiser Community Life Center
Tolentine-Zeiser Community Life Center (TZCLC) is honored to hold its first annual walk-a-thon in memory of the event’s organizer Kerry Ann O’Keefe, on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx.
TZCLC has served the Bronx community for over two decades. The organization provides day care, universal pre-k, immigration, youth, and senior citizen services. In addition TZCLC also manages HIV/AIDS and homeless family shelters. Kerry, a graduate school candidate at Columbia University’s School of Social Work, was a vibrant employee and passionate social advocate. Kerry believed deeply in the work of TZCLC. Coordinating the Walk-a-Thon was one of the countless ways she contributed to helping the organization carry out its philosophy “to help people help themselves”. Kerry passed away in July 2006 at the age of 26.
The two-mile walk-a-thon will take place at 10 am at the Van Cortland Stadium Track; registration will begin at 9 am. The suggested entry fee is a donation of $25.00. T-Shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered walkers. There will be a 50-50 raffle, awards and prizes. To pre-register call (718) 933-6935 or visit TZCLC.org. Registration will also be held on the day of the event.
